About the Artist
¥$
¥$ — pronounced “Yen Sign” — is the collaborative project of Kanye West (Ye) and Ty Dolla $ign, two of the most influential figures in modern hip-hop and R&B. The duo announced themselves to the world in early 2024 with the long-awaited release of “Vultures 1,” a joint album that immediately topped charts globally and dominated cultural conversation across music, fashion, and pop culture.
Kanye West is one of the most influential and uncompromising American rappers, singers, songwriters, record producers, and fashion designers of his generation. Born on June 8, 1977, in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Kanye first gained recognition as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records, contributing landmark beats to records by Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, and many others. He released his debut album, “The College Dropout,” in 2004 — a critical and commercial breakthrough that immediately marked him as a generational voice.
Across his solo career, Kanye has continued to push boundaries — blending genres, sampling traditions, and entire aesthetic worlds. His discography includes “Late Registration,” “Graduation,” “808s & Heartbreak,” “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” “Yeezus,” “The Life of Pablo,” “Ye,” “Jesus Is King,” and “Donda,” each redefining what a rap album could be. Beyond music, his Yeezy fashion line and his impact on streetwear have shaped two decades of culture. He has won 24 Grammy Awards, making him one of the most decorated artists of all time.
Ty Dolla $ign, whose real name is Tyrone William Griffin Jr., is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer recognised for his contributions to hip-hop and R&B. Born on April 13, 1982, in Los Angeles, California, Ty first rose through the industry as a featured artist and writer on hits by other major names before stepping out as a solo force. His debut studio album, “Free TC” (2015), produced hit singles such as “Blasé” and “Saved” and confirmed him as one of the most distinctive voices in modern R&B.
Ty has built a reputation as one of the most prolific and respected collaborators of the streaming era, with credits across records by Kanye West, Drake, Post Malone, The Weeknd, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, and many more. His warm, melodic delivery and his ear for production have made him a go-to creative partner across genres — and his long-standing creative chemistry with Kanye West laid the groundwork for the ¥$ project years before its formal release.
Released in February 2024, “Vultures 1” debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and topped charts in multiple countries. Anchored by singles such as “Carnival,” “Talking,” “Burn,” and “Fuk Sumn,” the album combined Kanye’s maximalist production instincts with Ty Dolla $ign’s melodic command, and featured collaborations with Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Rich The Kid, Quavo, Lil Durk, and others. The record was followed by “Vultures 2” later in 2024, cementing the project as a sustained collaboration rather than a one-off.
The Vultures Listening Experience and accompanying world tour brought the duo to arenas across the United States and Europe in 2024. In Paris, ¥$ headlined the Accor Arena — La Pépite 47 covered the night on the ground, capturing the production, the crowd, and the cultural weight of one of the most-anticipated live moments of the year.
